The Centre for Curriculum Assessment and Teacher Support enables a co-ordinated approach to curriculum development and delivery, student assessment, teacher and school management support, co-curricular activities and school-based research in line with the Education Act and Ministry's goals and policies.

The roles and functions of Centre for Curriculum Assessment and Teacher Support
- Develops national curriculum and assessment policies, standards and other related guidelines;
- Supports the implementation of these policies, guidelines and standards at school level;
- Develops instructional materials and advises on materials and equipment to be procured.
- Coordinates, develops and administer Key Stage assessments.
- Monitors and evaluates the national curriculum and assessment
- Initiates and conduct research related to curriculum implementation and assessment practices.
- Establishes curriculum standards as a basis for curriculum development and delivery nationally.
- Makes effective use of capacity centrally and within schools to develop and implement curriculum and assessment standards.
- Promotes innovative ideas in professional practice and contributes to policy development grounded in research.
- Enhances the development and use of multimedia and other technologies in schools.
- Ensures a more coordinated approach to the continuous professional development of teachers and school leaders.
- Promotes closer partnerships with other stakeholders, including those from the private sector
- Establishes links with similar institutions internationally and other relevant professional bodies.
- Undertake regular review of teaching and learning programmes to adequately respond to the emerging needs of the economy and society.
