  • 16th May 2018 - Signing Ceremony of the Guy Morel Institute

    The Guy Morel Institute has demerged from the University of Seychelles and has become an autonomous Professional Centre in its own right under the direction of its board , with the  Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development as its parent Ministry.

    The Charter outlines the functions of its Governing Board and its Management, the responsibility of its staff and students as well as the administrative and financial responsibilities that the Institute will have to meet.

    Following the signing which was held at the Ministry’s Headquarters, Minister Simeon handed over the document to the Dean of TGMI, Ms Shella Mohideen.

    Witnessing this momentous occasion were the Vice Chancellor of Unisey Mr Justin Valentin, Management staff of the Unisey and the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development.

    Minister Simeon voiced the following: “To Government it is quite important that TGMI will be autonomous and self-sufficient and will operate like a state owned enterprise.”

    On her part, Dean Mohideen welcomed the decision to demerge the two Institutions. She remarked: “I think it is in the best interest of the Unisey and in the best interest of TGMI that we can function as separate entities with each one of us with our separate vision.”

    The Minister wished the Management and staff of the Institution the best of luck and success in this journey and assured them of the Ministry’s continued support.
